The support services coordinator (SSC; in Estonian TUKO) at Tartu Lotte Kindergarten is our headmaster Viive Vellemaa, whose role is to organise the support and cooperation needed for the learning and development of children with special educational needs (SEN; in Estonian HEV), both within and outside the kindergarten. The SSC facilitates cooperation between support specialists, teachers, and children, and also advises parents. Responsibilities of the SSC (TUKO) Coordinates cooperation between specialists working with the child and participates in the preparation of the individual support plan (IAK). Serves as the contact person for matters related to children with special educational needs (both within and outside the kindergarten). Identifies children with special educational needs. Communicates with different parties (special education teacher, speech therapist, management, parents). Brings together relevant parties and organises discussions and meetings. Helps implement specialists’ recommendations. Collects and shares information (school, another kindergarten, etc.). |
