OUR KINDERGARTEN GROUPS We have six kindergarten groups and all of them are named after different characters from a book "Leiutajateküla Lotte" by Andrus Kivirähk. The children in our kindergarten are 2-7 years old. |
THE TREE OF KINDNESS
An act of kindness makes the tree blossom! Love, share, help, smile... We notice good deeds around ourselves - both in kindergarten and elsewhere - and write them down on a piece of heart-shaped paper. All good deeds count! Each group in our kindergarten has its own color and by each spring, the tree is full of color. This is a very good opportunity to give positive feedback to children and it also promotes positive contacts between them. It is important to us that every child in our kindergarten can be unique, creative, healthy, empathetic and feel safe. These are our core values.
THE CHILDREN'S COUNCIL
The Children's Council was created in 2015. It consists of two children from three older groups, and the work of the council is led by the headmaster. We get together before important events and discuss what decisions we should make about them. In Hea Algus kindergartens - as in our kindergarten - one of the principles is that children learn to choose and decide for themselves, democracy is learned from a young age. The Children's Council provides the opportunity to do this on a larger scale, at the entire kindergarten level. Children learn to express their opinion, to be responsible, to share roles, to cooperate. The headmaster collects all opinions and forwards the information to both the board of trustees and the kindergarten staff, and together they help children's ideas come to life.
INCLUSIVE EDUCATION
Inclusive education is also the leading principle of Estonian educational organization. In the most general sense, inclusive educational organization seeks the social inclusion of all members of society in social life. Developing tolerance towards people with special needs starts already in kindergarten. Other children get used to learning with a student with special needs, knowing that we are all different and some are even more special than others. How these values are formed largely depends on the attitude of adults - the example of parents and teachers is crucial here.
